Muse Glimmer 30B
Muse Glimmer
Meta's open weights are back: a thirty-billion-parameter model under a plain Apache licence.
Updated

The read
Muse Glimmer is Meta's first open release under the Muse name, and the licence is the news: Apache 2.0, without the user-count threshold that came with Llama. It is a dense model of about thirty billion parameters that reads images as well as text and fits on a single high-memory GPU. Its coding and maths scores are strong for its size, though the independent indexes place it well below the large sparse open models. For a self-hosted assistant you can ship anywhere, it is a sensible base.
Where it shines
- Apache 2.0, with none of the Llama licence conditions
- Fits on a single high-memory GPU
- Strong coding scores for its size
Worth knowing first
- Far behind the large sparse open models on hard reasoning
- A 131,000-token context, short next to the million-token field
Index score
78.4
Provisional. This score is read from the product's public capability, not from the one-prompt rebuild the fully reviewed entries went through, so treat it as a placing rather than a verdict.
