The rename from Windsurf is more than branding. The product has shifted from an AI-native editor into a place to run a fleet of agents, local and cloud, with context shared between them instead of each starting cold. The IDE is still underneath, so it works as an ordinary editor when you want one. The free tier is unusually generous for this market. The cost is conceptual: managing agents is a different job from writing code, and the interface asks you to learn it.
